I am now taken by the trainwreak that this Supernatural.  The forum and recaps, not the actual show, I don't watch or have a desire to watch the show, the insanity of that corner of TWOP has put me against it.

Anyway,  the recapper, Demain enjoys putting ethnic slurs in his recaps lately.  I used to love his Charmed recaps, they were the reason I started frequenting TWOP in the first place.  I rarely watched that show, his recaps spared me the agony of having to do so.

So of course the use of those slurs offended some users of the site.  Sadly, I cannot link you to those because Barnes swept those up and away.  Those pesky brats, don't they know it's boards on boards to say something negative about a recap.   However, it is perfectly okay to gush for pages and pages about how you love Barnes and Demain.  But it makes me ponder, aren't those "love" threads considered to be Boards on Boards too?  I clearly remember there being a section in the FAQ's that threads that turned into recapper Love or Hate threads were a big no no.  However, I can't seem to find that part of the FAQs anymore.  So I guess they've recinded their stance on Mod and Recapper ass kissing.

Someone decided to email one of the site runners about their disgust of the aforementioned recap.  This is the result.  So yeah, the powers that be over there really don't care that people are offended.  No that isn't right, they do care if people are offended, they just don't need to be offended in this case.  People are goofy like that, aren't they? Shame on them for being offended, it is the readers fault not the recappers fault.

Several letters were sent to Bravo/NBC (their new shiny parent company).  However, I haven't seen a response from that end yet.

It's now officially time to get into the fetal position

So this writers strike seems to have have some people in all a tizzy.

Yes, the strike is important for everyone that watches TV.  However, I just want to highlight some of the odder thoughts on the situation.

This here is a little extreme

I'm sorry, but boycotting channels, advertisers and DVDS is not going to make the strike go away.  The only thing that will make a strike go away is for the WGA and the studios to come to an agreement.

In the various show forums some people are losing their shit because they may not get to see a season arc finish.  They don't care about the thousands of people who are out of work because of the strike.  They don't care how it impacts those people, just that they're favorite show will only have a half season this year.

No, it isn't a nightmare for you.  Only getting to see half a season instead of a full season is not a nightmare.  If you worked on one of these shows, and it was your income, only to find that yeah, you have no income for who knows how long.  Then it's a nightmare.  It really irks me that people are only thinking of their own TV habits instead of the true ramifications of the strike.

I'm sure I can find other instances of asshattery in regards to the strike...however, I'll have to save that for a later date.

Okay so if you are new and pondering on whether to join this community here's a few little groundrules.

TWOP is owned by Bravo.  I have no afflitiation with BRAVO/NBC Universal.  This is just a lightlearted community to snark on the snark.

Please do not post any private information about any members of this community or TWOP.  This includes emails, addresses and other personal information.   If you want to "out" your own screenname at TWOP that is fine and your business, but if you prefer to remain anonymous, that's fine too.

This community is to poke fun at the craziness that is TWOP sometimes.  The over strict, over zealous mods; The windbagging nature of the recaps; The over the topness of some of the more dedicated posters.  This is not a community to unleash a nasty assault on any particular person at TWOP.  You can snark on the snark, but if you have overwhelming anger at someone or something on the site, take a deep breath, a goofy site about TV should not be so anger inducing.

Q:  Hey who are you?
A:  I'm just a person who has a love/hate relationship with TWOP.  I like reading the recaps to my favorite shows, and discussing those shows with other people.  However,  sometimes it does it a tad dramatic in there, a stupid poster will say something stupid, a mod goes hogwild handing out warnings and banninations willy nilly.

Q:  I really, really, really hate [person x] can I talk about this here?
A.  Yes and no.  If you find someone irritating, feel free to vent, but remember your manners.  Also remember that it's just a website and if you find yourself too invested in the drama there, perhaps it is best if you go out, get some air, and think before you post here.

GOOD:  Mod X gave me a warning for X reason, it's bull.  Mod X must have been really bored today, because they are giving a lot of warnings for stupid things.  It must be a slow drama day in the forums.  Discuss.

This is good because it gives a little vent, and gives a jumping off point for discussion.

BAD:  I hate Mod X, the stupid [dick/bitch/varying choice of genitalia]  gave me a warning for no good reason.  I want to [choice of physical punishment] to Mod X.  He/she/ it will rue the day they ever tried messing me with.  Stupid Fucking Nazi.

This is bad, because threatening physical harm on someone is not cool, and never will be.  Plus it shows a big anger management issue.  If you are in a tizzy over getting a warning, you are too overinvested.  It's time to take a step back and breath and realize you're just posting on a website about TV, not coming up with a cure for cancer.
Comparing anyone to a Nazi is also a big no, no too.  Unless the mods have gas chambers for banned posters, then it's best not to use that term to describe anyone.

Q: Why are the posts moderated.  Are you a control freak?
A:  A little bit.  But I'm moderating it for now to filter out any "bad" venting posts.  I will wait and see how this community does, and will reconsider the moderated posting status at a later date.

Hello and Welcome

I guess I started this community because I was getting kind of irritated with some of the goings on at the love it or hate it site of Television Without Pity.

When I find myself getting irritated, the best thing for me to do is make light of the situation.  Because it is afterall just a website, and in the grand scheme of life, it doesn't amount to much.  So I decided to start this community where people could go and poke fun at some of the crazy shit that goes on in there.

So if you've come here to unleash a vitrol assault on a poster, mod, recapper, whoever, don't waste your breath.  This is not a community to bash or berate anyone or anything on that site, it's just rude.  Yet sometimes the things that go on in there are just weird and crazy and since you can't boards on boards there, I figured this would be a nice place to ramble about the craziness of it all.

A Good Post : [link to twop wacky poster post] Heh, this poster thinks that Peter Petrelli needs to be shirtless and wet all the time, what a goof.  It really bugs me that sometimes the fangirls overrun the episode thread--discuss

A Bad Post: [same link as above]  This poster is such a crack smoking stupid bitch.  People like her make me want to go on a shooting rampage of all fangirls  DIE DIE DIE.

So please make yourself at home.  For right now I'm going to preview all the posts, just to avoid anything that might be a legal issue.  Oh and I'm a control freak too.  Depending on how the community goes I will probably swtich the mod preview off.
